Troubleshooting

If you encounter a problem while using Opti Deko, check the section that matches your symptoms.
If the following steps do not resolve the problem, contact the email address listed under Support and Contact.

Symptom What to Check What to Do
Opti Deko does not power on Check that the USB-C cable is connected correctly. If using a USB hub, check that it supplies enough power. Reconnect the USB-C cable. Try another USB port or cable. If using a USB hub, try connecting directly to the computer.
The PC / Mac does not recognize Opti Deko Check that the USB cable supports data transfer and that Opti Deko appears in the operating system’s MIDI device list after connection. Replace a charge-only cable with one that supports data transfer. Reconnect the USB cable and try another USB port. If the problem persists, restart the PC / Mac and reconnect.
An Expansion Unit is not recognized Check that the Main Unit and Expansion Unit are securely connected in the correct orientation. Turn off the power, check the connections between all units, and turn the power on again.
Only some Expansion Units work Check that all unit connections are secure and that the total is within the limit of one Main Unit and up to three Expansion Units (four units in total). Connect the units one at a time and check their operation to identify the connection where the problem occurs.
The Main Unit’s Color LED flashes red This indicates a sensor fault. The LED flashes red at 0.1-second intervals. Unplug the USB-C cable to turn off the power. Disconnect the Expansion Units and power on the Main Unit by itself. If the problem persists, contact support.
The Guide LED flashes rapidly Keyboard alignment is required. On both the Main Unit and Expansion Unit, the LED flashes at 0.1-second intervals. If multiple units are connected, only the leftmost unit flashes. Follow Keyboard Alignment and press the C key closest to the flashing Guide LED. Once alignment is complete, that Guide LED lights steadily.

NOTE During normal operation, the Guide LED is off on any unit with another Expansion Unit connected to its left. On an Expansion Unit, the Guide LED also turns off in the event of a sensor fault, so an unlit LED alone does not indicate a fault.

Symptom What to Check What to Do
Playing the MIDI keyboard produces no sound Check that the MIDI keyboard is connected correctly to Opti Deko and that Opti Deko is selected as a MIDI input in the DAW or software instrument. Check the MIDI connection and enable Opti Deko in the DAW’s or software instrument’s MIDI input settings.
Pressing C does not complete alignment and the Guide LED keeps flashing The MIDI cable may be disconnected, or the MIDI keyboard may not be sending MIDI data. Check the connection between the keyboard’s MIDI OUT port and the Main Unit’s MIDI-IN port. Also check the keyboard’s MIDI output settings, then press the C key closest to the flashing Guide LED again.
Pitch bend does not work Check that the software instrument supports pitch bend or MPE. If it requires MPE setup, check that MPE is enabled. Enable MPE in the DAW and software instrument.
The amount of pitch change is different from expected Check that the software instrument’s per-note (Member Channel) Pitch Bend Range is ±48 semitones. Follow Software Instrument Settings and set the per-note Pitch Bend Range to ±48 semitones. This is separate from the Master Channel range.
Unexpected pitch changes occur when playing multiple notes Check that the instrument supports MPE. If it receives on a conventional MIDI channel, pitch bend may affect multiple notes at once. Use an MPE-compatible instrument and enable MPE in the DAW / instrument.
Pressing one key produces multiple notes Check for duplicate MIDI inputs in the DAW or software instrument. Set Opti Deko as the only MIDI input and disable direct input from the connected MIDI keyboard.
Notes remain sounding after operating a pedal on the MIDI keyboard Check that MIDI CC messages from the sustain pedal or other controllers are being sent. Press and release the pedal again. If the problem persists, reconnect the MIDI keyboard or DAW.
Symptom What to Check What to Do
Playing the keys produces sound, but finger movements do not change it Check that alignment has been completed correctly. Perform alignment again. Check Opti Deko’s position and align the sensors with the intended keys.
Sensors do not respond on some keys Check for dirt on the sensor fronts or misalignment with the keys. Turn off the power and clean the sensor area with a soft, dry cloth.
Sensor response is unstable Check for dirt or obstructions in front of the sensors, or exposure to strong external light. Clean the sensor fronts and check the installation position. If strong direct light is present, try changing the operating environment.
Symptom What to Check What to Do
Operation is abnormal A temporary communication error or inconsistent settings may be the cause. Disconnect Opti Deko’s USB cable, wait a few seconds, and reconnect.
The steps above do not resolve the problem Check your operating environment and connected equipment. Contact the email address listed under Support and Contact, including the serial number, OS, DAW / software instrument, connected MIDI keyboard, and symptoms.

After turning the power on again, repeat alignment following Keyboard Alignment.
