Dedicated Editor
Web Editor is a browser-based tool for configuring Opti Deko presets and sensor response ranges. You can check sensor responses on an on-screen keyboard while editing the settings.
Before You Begin
Section titled “Before You Begin”Prepare the following:
- Opti Deko
- A USB cable that supports data transfer
- Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
- If using an Expansion Unit, the cable that connects the Main Unit and Expansion Unit
If another MIDI application or DAW is using Opti Deko, close it before opening Web Editor.
NOTE Web Editor connects to Opti Deko while it is running normally. You do not need to hold the Mode button while connecting the USB cable.
Connecting the Device
Section titled “Connecting the Device”- If using an Expansion Unit, connect it to the Main Unit first.
- Connect the Main Unit to your computer with the USB cable and start it normally.
- Open Web Editor in Chrome or Edge.
- If the browser asks for permission to access MIDI or SysEx, allow access.
- Confirm that Live and the connected product name appear at the top of the screen.
When you open Web Editor, it automatically searches for available devices. If it finds only one Opti Deko running normally, it connects automatically; you do not need to select Scan MIDI or Connect.
If multiple Opti Deko devices appear, select the device you want to edit, then select Connect. If the search does not start automatically, select Scan MIDI.
When connected, Web Editor automatically loads Presets A and B and the Sensor Range stored on the device.
Editing and Saving Settings
Section titled “Editing and Saving Settings”Select Preset A or Preset B at the top of the screen. Selecting a preset also switches the preset currently used by the device.
After you change a setting, Unsaved changes appears at the bottom of the screen. You can try the changes immediately while connected, but they have not yet been permanently saved to the device.
- To save the changes to the device, select Save preset.
- To discard changes that have not been saved, select Discard.
- Saving is complete when All changes saved appears.
IMPORTANT Do not disconnect the USB cable or power while Unsaved changes or Saving preset… is displayed.
Setting the Preset Name and LED Color
Section titled “Setting the Preset Name and LED Color”Configure these settings under 01 Preset Details.
- Enter a name in Preset name.
- Select the color swatch, or enter values for R, G, and B.
- Select Save preset at the bottom of the screen.
The selected color is used by the device’s indicator while that preset is active.
Selecting the Response Type
Section titled “Selecting the Response Type”Use 02 Mapping to configure how sensor movements are converted to MIDI data.
Response
Section titled “Response”- Continuous: The value changes smoothly according to the sensor position.
- Map: The sensor range is divided into regions, each of which outputs a fixed value.
Output
Section titled “Output”- Control Change: Outputs MIDI CC messages. Specify a number from 0 to 127 under CC Number.
- Pitch Bend: Outputs pitch bend. Values are set in cents.
Note-On Initial Value
Section titled “Note-On Initial Value”- On: Sends the Control Change or Pitch Bend value for the front of the key immediately before note-on.
- Off: Does not send an initial value immediately before note-on.
Changing the Response or Output type resets some mapping values to defaults appropriate for the new type. Check the behavior on the on-screen keyboard before saving.
Configuring Continuous Response
Section titled “Configuring Continuous Response”Continuous response lets you configure the active range and output values separately for white and black keys.
- Adjust Top and Bottom under White keys and Black keys to set the range over which the response changes.
- Enter the output values from the top to the bottom of the key in Start and End under Output range.
- To reverse the output direction, select Reverse output.
- Operate the keys and check the values on the screen.
- Select Save preset.
Selecting Reset mapping restores the Continuous mapping currently being edited to its standard values. If you may want to restore the current settings later, export the preset before resetting the mapping.
Configuring Map Response
Section titled “Configuring Map Response”Map response lets you divide the sensor range of each key into up to three regions and assign an output value to each region. The number of regions that can be added may be limited for some keys, such as black keys.
- Select the key to edit on the on-screen keyboard or with one of the C–B buttons.
- Confirm that This Key is selected.
- Use − and + under Regions for this key to change the number of regions.
- Move the boundary sliders to set the range of each region.
- Enter a Control Change or Pitch Bend value for Region 1 and each subsequent region.
- Operate the keys and check the values on the screen.
- Select Save preset.
To change boundary positions for multiple keys, select one of the following targets:
- This Key: Changes only the selected key.
- All White Keys: Changes the existing boundaries of all white keys.
- All Black Keys: Changes the existing boundaries of all black keys.
All White Keys and All Black Keys change only the boundary positions; they do not change the number of regions or their output values. Select Space evenly to distribute the existing regions of the selected target evenly.
When Pitch Bend is selected, Cent Display changes only the values shown on the on-screen keyboard.
- Key Offset: Shows the difference relative to each key.
- From C: Shows values relative to C.
Setting the Sensor Range
Section titled “Setting the Sensor Range”Sensor Range sets the detection ranges for white and black keys in millimeters.
- Enter the white-key detection range under White keys.
- Enter the black-key detection range under Black keys.
- Operate the keys and confirm that the on-screen sensor markers move through the intended ranges.
- Select Save preset to save the settings.
Sensor Range is a device-wide setting shared by Presets A and B. Saving it applies the common setting regardless of which preset is currently being edited.
Using the Factory Library
Section titled “Using the Factory Library”03 Factory library provides templates for common settings.
- Select the template you want to use.
- Adjust the preset name, LED color, mapping, and other settings as needed.
- Operate the keys and check the behavior.
- Select Save preset.
Selecting a template does not permanently save it to the device. Always check the save status.
Exporting and Importing Presets
Section titled “Exporting and Importing Presets”You can export a preset as a JSON file and use it in another Preset A or B slot or on another device. The file does not contain information that assigns it to slot A or B.
Exporting
Section titled “Exporting”- Select the Preset A or Preset B that you want to export.
- Select Export preset.
- Keep the JSON file downloaded by the browser.
Unsaved changes are included in the export using the settings currently displayed on the screen.
Importing
Section titled “Importing”- Select Preset A or Preset B as the import destination.
- Select Import preset, then select the preset JSON file.
- Review the imported settings.
- To save them to the device, select Save preset.
Importing a preset does not permanently save it to the device.
Checking the Sensor Display
Section titled “Checking the Sensor Display”When you operate the keys while connected, sensor markers and converted values appear in real time on the 12-key on-screen keyboard. If multiple Expansion Units are connected, color-coded markers and a legend identify each Expansion Unit.
The displayed values are the Control Change or Pitch Bend values produced by the selected preset settings.
If You Cannot Connect
Section titled “If You Cannot Connect”- Use Chrome or Edge.
- Allow the browser to access MIDI and SysEx.
- Check that the USB cable supports data transfer.
- Confirm that Opti Deko started normally.
- Close other MIDI applications and DAWs.
- Select Refresh to search for devices again.
- Reconnect the USB cable. If the connection is interrupted temporarily, Waiting for USB appears. Web Editor reconnects automatically when the same device becomes available again.
